10 tips for a smooth move
How to move without losing your mind — full guide by Eli, 35 years experience.
Moving home is one of life's most stressful events. For 35 years I've helped families move across Ashkelon and the Shfela. Here are the 10 tips that save time, money and nerves.
1. Plan 4 weeks ahead
Book a mover at least a month before. In summer or end-of-month, book 6 weeks ahead.
2. Organize by destination room
Label each box by the room in the NEW home, not the old one.
3. Photograph valuables before packing
Photos help with any damage claim and insurance.
4. Don't pack pianos, safes or glass yourself
Leave heavy and fragile items to pros. Self-inflicted damage isn't covered.
5. Prepare a "first day kit"
A box with toilet paper, chargers, soap, next-day clothes — so you're not digging through dozens of boxes.
6. Disconnect appliances a day early
Fridges and washers need time to dry before transport.
7. Update your address everywhere
Post, electricity, water, gas, insurance, bank.
8. Photograph the meters
Both old and new home — to protect against overcharges.
9. Have food and coffee for the crew
A crew treated well works better.
10. Check insurance before paying
A serious company shows an insurance certificate. With Eli The Mover it's standard.
